When and How to Get There
The best weather starts in March and continues till November. Belitung is more arid then say Bali or Java or Hawaii. The rainy season is shorter and less intense. That's not to say we don't get our share of rain in the rainy season just, it usually doesn't last all day but it can. Tanjung Kelayang beach where we are located gets even more sun due to there being no high mountains close by to cause bad weather. Belitung has very little wave action making it a great place for snorkeling, diving and safe swimming.

Belitung is a short forty five minute flight from Indonesia’s capital city, Jakarta and a three hour trip from Bali or Singapore. Most major international carriers fly to Jakarta or Bali. Singapore airlines www.SingaporeAir.com has many flights from both North America and Europe. It is easier to get to Belitung from Jakarta but not difficult from Bali.

From Bali you most first fly to Jakarta. Many domestic carriers and Airasia www.airasia.com/ fly from Bali to Jakarta. If you have no desire for a night over in Jakarta take a morning flight that connects with one of the late morning/early afternoon flights to Belitung. We are hoping for a direct route soon.

Guests coming from Malaysia or Singapore must also still transit through Jakarta but plans for a Batam-Belitung flight are being made.

Belitung's airport is Tanjung Pandan. You must ask for Tanjung Pandan when booking a flight as many agents only know the airport. Three airlines have flights there for a total of four flights a day. Both Batavia www.batavia-air.co.id/etiket/ and Sri-Wijaya www.sriwijayaair-online.com/ have web sites, Linus www.linusairways.com/ currently is under construction.

Sri-Wijaya flights leave Jakarta at 7:00 and 13:15. Batavia has a flight at 10:10 and Linus has a morning flight also. Returns are about a hour later.

We can pick you up at the airport for Rp. 150,000 or you can take a taxi for between Rp. 300,000 to Rp. 400,000.
Tanjung Kelayang Beach and Kelayang Beach Cottages are a 30-40 minute scenic drive from the airport on un-crowded and well paved roads. You can either take a new road which goes through the middle of the island mainly passing along palm oil plantations and forest or take a slightly longer route which is more scenic through town and along the ocean
